LT1767EMS8#PBF is a high performance DC-DC switching regulator designed to switch mode power supplies. It is capable of delivering up to 3.6 A of current, providing up to 36 W of power from a wide input voltage range from 4.5 V to 18 V. It features adaptive output voltage control, selectable soft-start and is capable of delivering adjustable output voltage from 0.8 V to the input voltage. The low quiescent current enables usage on battery-dependent applications. The device contains an adjustable frequency (300 kHz to 2.4 MHz), current-mode topology and is well-suited for both stepup and step-down applications.
As a DC-DC switching regulator, LT1767EMS8#PBF uses two switching transistors to convert input voltage to output voltage. The two transistors might be switched alternatively or synchronously. When one transistor is on, the other would be off and vice versa. With this efficient technique, a higher output voltage or lower output voltage is expected to create and a good DC-DC switching regulator contains proper control circuitry and switching transistors to do the work.LT1767EMS8#PBF is a multiple-mode control IC providing constant frequency peak current mode or constant frequency voltage-mode (CMV) control. It contains many advanced features, such as selectable soft-start, adjustable frequency, dynamic input voltage range selection, integrated dynamic output instrumentation, and optional differential primary sensing.
The dynamic input voltage range selection feature allows it to automatically enter a higher power save mode when it senses VIN is at the lower and vice versa. Hence, it is more efficient since it only uses the necessary hardware needed to deliver the power required at that time. By using the output instrumentation, it reduces the output noise when switching occurs, thereby ensuring that the output voltage remains the same. The optional differential primary sensing further improves the accuracy of the output voltage.
The LT1767EMS8#PBF is ideal for a wide array of applications, including automotive, industrial, networking and communications, office automation as well as medical systems. It is particularly useful in applications where multiple power supply rails are necessary, as it can produce up to five outputs from a single input with no additional external components.
