How to detect the quality of potentiometers?

When the pointer multimeter is used to detect the quality of the double coaxial potentiometer, the suitable electrical barrier of the multimeter is selected according to the resistance value of the detected double potentiometer.


First, the detection method of resistance value.

The resistance values of two groups of potentiometers on the double potentiometer are measured by using the two pens of the pointer multimeter, that is, the resistance values between A and C and A 'and C' in figure 4. Under normal circumstances, the resistance values of the two should be basically the same.

Second, the detection method of synchronization performance.

The A and C and A and C ends of the detected double potentiometer are short connected by a short wire, and then the resistance value between the center head B and B'of the potentiometer is measured by using a multimeter two-meter pen. Under normal circumstances, no matter where the shaft of the double potentiometer turns, the resistance value between the two points B and B should be equal to the resistance value between A and C or between A and C, that is to say, The pointer to the multimeter should always remain unchanged at the scale of the A and C or A' and C resistance values.

If the pointer of the multimeter is found to deflect, it means that the synchronization performance of the detected double potentiometer is poor and cannot continue to be used.


2. A method of detecting an adjustable resistor.

Adjustable resistor is also called adjustable potentiometer and fine-tuning potentiometer. Because of its small size, its rotating Reed is easy to loosen. When testing, you can use a multimeter to measure the resistance on both ends of the foot. If there is no indication of resistance value, it indicates that the Reed is loose or the diaphragm has been burned out; If the Reed is loose, you can clamp it with a pointed mouth clamp, measure the resistance between the middle pin and any pin on both sides, and rotate the Reed at the same time to see if the pointer on the table changes with the rotation angle, and if there is no change, it is damaged.


For the fine-tuning potentiometer with poor contact, it can be cleaned with gasoline or alcohol first, and then the new parts can be replaced when the cleaning is invalid.
