The SA7.0CAHB0G is a transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode device which is specifically designed to provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. ESD is an electrical overvoltage which can occur on PCBs and in sensitive electronic components due to electrostatic charge accumulation from electrostatic fields. If left unchecked, the ESD can cause permanent damage to the components and the PCBs they are connected to.
The SA7.0CAHB0G has an avalanche breakdown mechanism that provides fast response and high shunt capacitance for an ultra-low capacitance ESD protection against transient over-voltage conditions. It is a diode protection device that is designed to dissipate any energy from a voltage surge before it reaches the protecting device or circuit.
The device is a bi-directional diode, meaning that it has two active contacts (Anode and Cathode) that enable it to protect the load both incoming and outgoing. The Cathode connection will protect the input side of the device and the Anode connection will protect the output side of the device. It has an extremely low leakage current and a high breakdown voltage rating of 7.0V with a working current of 11.6A.
