Terminal Strips and Turret Boards are two distinct types in the 4186 application field. They both serve different purposes, have different design principles, and consequently have different operating requirements.
Terminal Strips are designed for the purpose of providing a secure, orderly connection between electrical components. The device consists of terminals that hold – and divide – dependent and independent electrical currents, allowing for more accurate measurements and increased safety. The terminals within a terminal strip are held together by means of a clip and fastening system, which also allows for easier assembly and removal of components.
Turret Boards, on the other hand, provide a way to connect components within an electrical circuitboard. Unlike a terminal strip, a turret board is not composed of individual terminals – rather, it is composed of stacked layer of wires connected by a series of turrets, or vertical columns. The turrets on a turret board, which are usually made of copper and are equipped with a plating system, are mounted between layers of insulation. This arrangement allows for easier reorganization of components within the circuitboard, as the turrets can be easily pulled in and out.
The working principles of these two devices differ significantly. The terminal strips are designed to keep current flowing at the desired level in only one direction. This is accomplished by punching discs with terminals into the holes in the device. These discs act like little channels, guiding current to move in a specific direction only. As an example, if the current is flowing along a wire to the left, then a terminal strip with discs will force current to come from the right only.
Turret boards, on the other hand, are designed to control the flow of current between connected components. This is done by creating a series of pathways between layers of metal and insulation. The metal pathway helps to direct current through the circuitboard, while the insulation keeps the current from flowing in the wrong direction. As a result, the current will only flow through the routed pathways, ensuring that the desired current level is maintained.
Both Terminal Strips and Turret boards have distinct advantages in the 4186 application field. As the above examples have demonstrated, these two devices serve different purposes and each have different strengths. It is important to consider the intended purpose of the device when deciding what type of device is most suitable for a particular application.
