Introduction to the QRE1113GR Optical SensorThe QRE1113GR is a reflective optical sensor from fifth-generation reflectance manufacturer, QRE. As an analog type sensor, the QRE1113GR has many applications ranging from motion sensing and touchless control to reflective mode line tracking and object detection. Although intended for use in robotics, QRE’s products, including the QRE1113GR, find use in a variety of other industries such as automation and factory automation.Optical Sensors - Reflective - Analog OutputOptical sensors are devices that use the transmission of photons through a medium to convert optical signals into electrical signals. When the medium is reflective, the optical sensor is thus said to be in a reflective mode. Such sensors can measure or detect the presence of a reflected signal in order to ascertain the presence of an object. In terms of output, analog output sensors are those whose outputs are relative to the intensity of the incident beam. The QRE1113GR optical sensor uses a visible light, red/infrared beam with the receiver and emitter split across the ground and VCC terminals. The sensor then measures the reflected light from the surface of the target object which, when combined with the transmitted signal, is used to derive the optical gradient, taking into account for any ambient light in the presence. As a result, the sensor accurately identifies objects between 3 and 8mm away along themore it is able to detect moving objects travelling at speeds of up to 3.2 m/s.Working PrincipleThe QRE1113GR works by obtaining a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) when a beam of visible light is emitted from the emitter terminal and reflected back to the receiver terminal. A convenient feature of the sensor is its self-diagnostic capabilities which automatically adjusts the extinction ratio to boost the signal-to-noise ratio. The receiver will then convert this information into either a TTL or analog voltage signal depend which is used to determine the presence of the target object. The optical design found within the QRE1113GR sensor provides superior detection accuracy and dynamic range. This allows the detection of moving targets as well as static ones, aiding the reliable detection of objects in a number of different scenarios, from high-speed applications such as line following, through to low speed point sensing for object detection. When being used in the reflection mode, the QRE1113GR can accurately measure distances of up to 8mm away. When used in this way, it is capable of detecting moving objects travelling up to 3.2 m/s, independently of the color, shape and orientation of the target object.ApplicationsThe QRE1113GR is used in a range of applications ranging from motion and touchless control sensing, to reflective mode line tracking, object detection, and reflective object detection. In motion and touchless control sensing, the QRE1113GR is capable of detecting finger movement and/or presence, allowing for the touchless manipulation of devices, even in 3D space. This makes it exceptionally useful in the automation and factory automation industries. The sensor is also used for line tracking applications. This involves the process of guiding a robot along a defined ‘line’ in its environment such as a tape or line on the ground. By detecting the reflected light from the line itself, the QRE1113GR is then able to indicate the presence of said line and its position relative to the robot, allowing the robot to stay on track and navigate the environment it is part of.In addition to this, the sensor is also used in automation and process control. Here, the sensor is often used to detect the presence of objects such as beverage bottles, food items, as well as small parts in a factory. It is also used in automatic door opener systems, valet parking, and even vending machines. Moreover, the sensor’s ability to detect small objects at a distance of up to 8mm makes it well suited for robotic applications where an extremely accurate recognition system is needed.ConclusionThe QRE1113GR optical sensor is a reflective analog output device that is designed for a variety of applications. These include motion sensing and touchless control, reflective mode line tracking, and object detection. Additionally, it is capable of accurately detecting and identifying objects up to 8The specific data is subject to PDF, and the above content is for reference
