The WRL-13001 is a RF Evaluation and Development kit used for applications in the 2.4GHz ISM band. This kit, produced by Worrall-Robillardl Electronics, is designed to accelerate development time and reduce design cost of both the hardware and software for the complete product. The kit includes an evaluation board, a host PC interface board, a clip-on GPS antenna, external antennas, and an RF driver. The WRL-13001 is mainly used in applications such as RF Appliances, cellular telephones, and other wireless products that require the 2.4GHz ISM band.
The WRL-13001 is well suited for both development and prototyping, as it supports a wide range of applications. It includes two independent RX/TX chips powered by an internal crystal, and can be operated in one of two modes: transceiver mode or duplex mode. In transceiver mode, both the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) operate simultaneously, while in duplex mode only one can operate at a time, allowing for either reception or transmission of data.
The WRL-13001 is a board-level cirquit, and features several integrated functional blocks. The main four are: Radio Frequency (RF) driver, Autonomous Network Interface (ANI), Digital Signal Processing (DSP) module, and the Application Program Interface (API). The RF driver is responsible for generating the desired RF signal, while the ANI is used to enable communication between the board and the host PC. The DSP module is used to process the incoming signal, and the API allows for the easy implementation of custom applications. In addition to these main components, the board also contains an external antenna connector, signal generator, a voltage reference, power supply and DC/DC converter.
Once connected to the host PC, the WRL-13001 evaluation board can be configured for operation using the provided software packages. The software interface allows for configuration of the operating mode, as well as the signal levels and polarities. The board also incorporates functionality for testing signal levels, providing various types of signal types such as OFDM and TDMA, as well as a custom signal mode that can be configured for specific applications. The software provides various tools to monitor and analyze the signal received, as well as an oscilloscope for signal visualization and fine-tuning.
The WRL-13001 has become a popular choice for application developers working in the 2.4GHz ISM band due to its wide range of features. Its integrated functional blocks allow for rapid prototyping of complex applications, while the signal analysis and oscilloscope functions help to ensure that the desired performance is achieved. In addition, the board is also well suited for educational use, as the open architecture allows for easy re-programming and experimentation. With its features and affordability, the WRL-13001 represents a highly flexible and cost-effective solution for professional application developers and hobbyists alike.
