When a signal is applied on the control pin, the switch turns on and conducts current, causing the current to pass through the primary winding. This causes the magnetic flux produced by the primary winding to be added to the flux produced by the secondary winding, thus increasing the voltage in the secondary winding.

At the same time, the current flowing through the switch starts to decrease. When the current flows through the switch will decrease up to zero, it will turn off and no longer conduct current, resulting in the switch voltage rising up to the input voltage level. The current decreases due to the fact that the primary winding’s benefits from the additional flux from the secondary side, and the leakage inductance will not allow the current to pass through the primary winding. The flux will now reduce to its original level, and the secondary winding’s voltage will no longer increase. Then, the switch will not conduct current and the voltage on the primary side will remain at the input voltage level.

When the switch is turned off, the current on the secondary side will stay the same until the primary current reduces to zero, which departs the other side of the magnetizing inductance. At this point, the switch will be turned on and the process will start again. Thus, the current will build up a voltage across the secondary side, and the secondary voltage will increase.
