LM317K STEEL is a three-terminal fixed output voltage regulator designed to provide a useful voltage reference in a wide range of applications. It has an adjustable output voltage range of 1.2V to 30V and a maximum supply voltage of 35V. The LM317K STEEL offers the standard features of a low dropout voltage (1.2V), low quiescent current (1.2mA), and output current of up to 1A.

Application Field

Working Principle

The LM317K STEEL is a three-terminal voltage regulator with the standard voltage feedback network. When the output voltage is equal to the set value, the internal reference voltage and the feedback voltage are equal and the transistor in the pass-regulator circuit will remain in cutoff mode. No current flows into the feedback network, and no current flows in the output circuit.When the output voltage deviates from the set value, the reference voltage and the feedback voltage are no longer equal, the pass-regulator circuit will go into conduction, the collector current will increase and the output voltage will drop. The output voltage is regulated back to the original set value by the loop formed by the reference voltage, the feedback voltage and the pass-regulator circuit. The integrated circuit operates by comparing the reference voltage of 1.2V with the feedback voltage and adjusting the pass-regulator circuit current until they become equal. The LM317K STEEL includes several features to protect the circuit and ensure reliable performance. The device features a quiescent current limiting, thermal limiting, and current limiting, in addition to an over-voltage protection circuit that allows the device to operate up to the maximum voltage.The LM317K STEEL can be used in a variety of applications, including adjustable voltage regulation, current limiting, and overload protection.
