The device includes an over-temperature shutdown peripheral, which controls both the high side and low side FET’s temperature. When the over-temperature threshold is reached, the device drives off both the FETs and initiates an active shutdown. This protects the device from potential thermal stress. The TPS2511DGNR also features a thermal detect circuit, which does not disconnect the load from the power source, but makes sure that the power switch operates at an acceptable temperature range.
