Working Principle
The BA33BC0WFP-E2 is a fixed output voltage regulator including a voltage reference, an error amplifier, an internal control logic and a power MOS FET. It works in two modes: standard mode and reverse polarity mode. The reference voltage can be adjusted by a resistive divider. The error amplifier compares the output voltage to changes in the reference voltage and adjusts the MOS FET duty cycle to maintain the output voltage.
In standard mode, the chip is powered by the input voltage, Vin, on its non-inverting input terminal, and the output voltage is regulated by comparing the feedback voltage to the reference voltage. The control logic includes under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and short-circuit protection (SCP) to prevent the dropout voltage from exceeding the protection level.
In reverse polarity mode, the chip is powered by the output voltage and regulated by the voltage reference. Under-voltage lockout and short circuit protection are still active in the reverse polarity mode. In this mode, a negative input voltage is required. The chip can also be operated with a single cell battery,providing further enhanced stability of the voltage.
