The LMR14020SQDDAQ1 is an advanced power management device classified into DC DC switching regulators in the voltage regulators segment of the PMIC family. Incorporating a high frequency current mode architecture the LMR14020SQDDAQ1 is designed to provide more efficient, reliable and simpler control of the power delivery in applications like motor controllers, embedded computers and portable electronics.

With its true differential voltage sensing and high performance line compensation, the LMR14020SQDDAQ1 is capable of operating over an input voltage range of 4.5 V to 36 V and can deliver a steady output current of up to 15A. Its switching frequency is adjustable up to 2 MHz and it can also provide a constant output voltage with tolerance of 1.2% over line, load and temperature. The accurate current sensing of its integrated switching regulator makes it ideal for adjustable speed motor controllers and it can also be used in applications featuring transient over current protection.

The LMR14020SQDDAQ1 is configured to provide a soft-start, which helps to reduce start-up load current and is protected from output excess voltage and over temperature. The device is protected against electrical stress, reverse current and overcurrent conditions and can deliver a power efficiency rating of up to 90%.

From an operational point of view, the LMR14020SQDDAQ1 exploits current-mode control architecture to provide reliable and accurate power transfer. The expansion of the input voltage range is enabled by the true differential voltage sensing while the high output voltage accuracy is providable due to accurate current sensing. The current-mode control ensures fast loop response and stability, therefore allowing for design simplification. Moreover, the integrated current sensing compensates the voltage drop created by the load current.

The current-mode operation enables the switching frequency to be adjusted up to 2 MHz, which reduces the need for large filter components. This allows the device to be integrated into small space designs without compromising the power efficiency. The LMR14020SQDDAQ1 is also resistance to output-voltage-induced ringing and is configured to generate a soft start that reduces the start-up load current.

The LMR14020SQDDAQ1 is designed for power supply applications that require flexibility, accuracy and adjustment of output voltage from the mains power. It is an ideal solution for adjustable-speed motor control, embedded systems and portable applications. With advanced protection features the LMR14020QQ1 is certified to meet safety standards such as IEC62368-1 making it suitable for industrial and home applications.
