The LT1269CQ#PBF is a synchronous step-down DC/DC converter from Linear Technology\'s Power Management IC (PMIC) Voltage Regulators portfolio, belonging to the DC DC Switching Regulators class. It is designed to meet the strictest requirements of low heat dissipation and low power consumption while providing precise regulation of a wide range of output voltages.

This converter is a Monolithic Single-Chip Synchronous Step-Down DC/DC Controller. It can be used in applications requiring a regulated output voltage from a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 20V. It is optimized for low output voltages down to 0.36V and occupies minimal board space. The device features a wide switching frequency range from 250kHz to 2.0MHz with adjustable frequency control to reduce EMI and offers programmable external current limiting.

The LT1269CQ#PBF’s most common application field is in Notebooks, Netbooks, and Small Form Factor PCs. It is also used in other non-mobile electronics, like LCD TVs and digital monitors. Other suitable applications include set-top boxes and industrial/process control systems.

The LT1269CQ#PBF works according to the synchronous flyback control scheme, using both high and low side power MOSFETs. The LT1269CQ#PBF uses a regulated 5V source to implement the hysteretic control mechanism by comparing the output with a reference voltage and adjusting the frequency as required. The adaptive off-time control mode insures an ideal overlap time between the two power MOSFETs, increasing efficiency. It can also be configured for an ECB, continuous conduction or discontinuous conduction operation mode. To optimize power dissipation and current handling, the power MOSFETs can be placed in either a high-side or low-side configuration depending on the type of load.

The device has internal undervoltage lockout, thermal shutdown, foldback current limit, peak-current limiting and current sharing capabilities. It also features programmable input voltage undervoltage lockout, programmable current limit and several dynamic voltage control options.

The LT1269CQ#PBF can be used in combination with the external components of your choice (such as inductors, capacitors and diodes) to customize the output voltage according to the load requirements. The DC/DC solution is optimized for applications with very low quiescent current in shutdown mode (IQ1mA typical). The device is suitable for a normal mode supply voltage ranging from 4.5V to 20V and an operating ambient temperature from -40°C to 125°C.
