LM3354MM-1.8/NOPB Application Field and Working PrinciplePMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) is a multi-functional integrated circuit usually used in the process of power conversion, energy storage and power management. In particular, Voltage Regulators and DC-DC Switched Regulators are the main types used for power conversion. The LM3354MM-1.8/NOPB is one such DC-DC Switched Regulator.In basic terms, a DC-DC Switched Regulator is an integrated circuit which is used to take a given input voltage, and convert it to whatever output voltage is desired. This helps to significantly reduce the power loss over the channel, as well as the ‘switching noise’ which is often present in switched regulators.The LM3354MM-1.8/NOPB is a highly efficient DC-DC regulator, capable of up to 95% efficiency across its entire operating range. It is also one of the few voltage regulators on the market with a ‘simple-mode’; this is a combination of both the synchronous-rectifier and error-amplifier which is made to work together in a single configuration; reducing the number of external components, and improving the overall power efficiency.In addition to the features mentioned above, the LM3354 is significantly smaller than other regulators, occupying only 1mm² of board area.
