The LP5904TME-1.2/NOPB Voltage Regulator is a high-performance low-dropout linear regulator capable of supplying up to 1.2A of output current. It has a high PSRR of up to 78 dB at 1 kHz, a low 0.9mΩ typical dropout voltage, and excellent line and load regulation. The device can operate with an input voltage range of 1.25V to 5.5V and offers high output voltage accuracy. It includes a power-on reset (POR) feature that ensures the output voltage is initialized to the value set by an external resistor divider. The LP5904TME-1.2/NOPB provides thermal shut-down protection and a low-noise high-output current mode.
LP5904TME-1.2/NOPB is suitable for a variety of applications such as industrial and consumer systems, digital cameras, 3G/4G/LTE mobile systems, portable devices, and automotive systems. In automotive systems, the device can be used to generate low-noise voltages for many applications, including MIC and fuse drivers, clock generators, audio/smiley amplifiers, and system regulators.
The LP5904TME-1.2/NOPB Voltage Regulator works on a basic principle of controlling the output voltage by sensing the voltage on the GND via the error amplifier loop. The error amplifier controls the voltage regulator output voltage by controlling the gate of the pass device. This internal control loop monitors the output for any changes and quickly adjusts the output accordingly to keep the output voltage constant. The device also implements some protections, including current limit and thermal shutdown, to ensure safe and reliable operation.
The LP5904TME-1.2/NOPB can be powered up/down in a controlled manner by removing/inserting power to the regulator. The device provides an under-voltage lockout (UVLO) feature to ensure that the output voltage remains below the minimum specified voltage level when the input voltage is below the minimum VIN threshold. The device also includes an automatic power-on reset (POR) feature that initializes the output voltage when the input voltage is greater than the prescribed threshold.
The LP5904TME-1.2/NOPB has excellent regulatory performance with a typical line regulation of 0.02%/V, a load regulation of 0.03%/mA, a PSRR of up to 78 dB at 1 kHz and a total output noise of 80 μV RMS.
