The MP2619EV-LF-Z works by first converting the input power (from a wall adapter, for example) into an output voltage and then it operates as either a battery charger or a power supply output regulator. In the charger mode, the chip senses the level of charge in the battery and will maintain that level. When the voltage in the battery drops, the chip automatically decreases the charge current to ensure optimal charging and to prevent overcharging and reverse current. When the battery is fully charged, it enters the completion stage and then automatically terminates the charge. As a power supply output regulator, the MP2619EV-LF-Z will detect the presence of an input power source and then switch the main channel to the regulator output. The chip includes an up/down voltage setting function, allowing users to set the desired voltage within a range of 0.9V and 5.0V, depending on the application. The MP2619EV-LF-Z features low-noise operation and negligible battery drain. It offers an industry-standard USB Battery Charging (BC) detect pin and charge current detection pin, as well as a built-in over-temperature protection circuit. It also provides superior line/load regulation and low battery voltage operation. The chip is designed with MPS’s advanced process technology and is available in a SOT23-6 package with PowerPAD™ to enable operation up to 4.2V at low voltage.
