NCP303LSN29T1 Application Field and Working Principle

The NCP303LSN29T1 is a high-performance, low-power multi-Rail supervisor designed for power supply sequencing, power controller and error detection. It is designed to provide an easy to use solution for monitoring multiple power supplies and controlling the sequence of their power-up and power-down. It is ideal for a wide range of applications, from automotive and industrial to consumer products.

Features

The NCP303LSN29T1 features a 3 V to 5.5V supply range and is ideal for use in small-to-medium power systems. It has an input slack delay timer with programmable undervoltage lockout and overvoltage lockout. The overvoltage lockout is based upon an adjustable hysteresis threshold and a programmable debounce time.The NCP303LSN29T1 has an adjustable voltage monitor (VMON) threshold, and a programmable delay timer that adjusts the power-on and power-off sequence of multiple power supplies. Additionally, it has adjustable temperature guardband monitoring, a reset after power-on flag, and adjustable glitch filters to eliminate false alarms.

Working Principle

The NCP303LSN29T1 works by monitoring the power supply input voltage and current, and activating a reset after power up flag. This flag allows the reset signal to remain active until the power is stabilized, ensuring that all operating parameters are within the acceptable range.The NCP303LSN29T1 also monitors the minimum supply voltage to guarantee that error conditions are detected before they can cause system damage. The overvoltage lockout feature shuts off the power supply when it detects an overvoltage. Additionally, the temperature guardband monitors the internal temperature of the device in order to detect thermal runaway. When an error has been detected, the NCP303LSN29T1 will activate its built-in reset circuit and cut off the power so that the error condition can be corrected. Additionally, it provides an adjustable power-on reset (POR) delay timer, which adjusts the power-up and power-down sequence of multiple power supplies.The adjustable glitch filters in the NCP303LSN29T1 allow for filtering out unwanted noise signals, ensuring that the device does not respond to spurious transitions. The filters have adjustable settings to enable accurate detection of error conditions.
