Memory plays a vital role in electronics. AT28C16E-15PI is the commonly used high speed, low power, nonvolatile memory product in the memory field. It is a 16-kilobit CMOS EEPROM, organized as 2048 bytes which can be programmed and erased via electronic signals. It provides high performance, industrial solutions for mobile, portable and embedded medical devices, as well as other consumer and computing applications.
The AT28C16E-15PI operates from a single +5V ±10% power supply and draws 110μA (typical) active current, making it one of the best choices from a power consumption perspective. It features low standby current (5μA typical), Extend Standby and Halt modes for maximum power saving.
AT28C16E-15PI offers extended temperature options,while its write operation supported by a single cycle write access time of 120 ns (typical). It also offers a bit-selectable write mode with internal auto-verification, allowing you to program and then verify without having to perform a read-modify-write cycle.
AT28C16E-15PI uses the industry-standard two-wire (I²C) interface to enable bidirectional data transfer bus. This bus is designed to be used in low- and medium-speed applications, and it is extremely suited for applications with microcontrollers and/or DSPs. Its I²C interface operates with either a 7-bit or a 10-bit addressing range, addressing up to 8 slave devices.
The internal architecture of AT28C16E-15PI includes an erase/program controller, a data register, an addressregister and 8Kbits of cell array, which is organized as 2048 bytes. The part can be programmedin self-timed write cycles. Byte-level operations are allowed.The Write operation of AT28C16E-15PI starts with the device being addressed.The user must then send acontrol word, which specifies the operation to be executed and the number of bytes to be written.
The write operation continues by sending the N data bytes, that must be written. Once the write operation is complete, the address counter is automatically incremented by the number of data bytes sent.
The erase operation is performed at the byte, page or full-chip levels. It is began the same way as a write operation, except that the control word has the erase command code in the upper three bits. The internal counter is again incremented at the end of the operation.
AT28C16E-15PI is ideal for applications such as industrial control, automotive, consumer products, medical instruments, telecom and gaming systems.
