The MT90840AP1 is an embedded system for OTN access layer applications. It is a powerful processor that supports 10 Gb/s Ethernet (GbE) over the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) protocol. With a multi-layer switch fabric and advanced traffic management, the MT90840AP1 supports a seamless exchange of digital and analog voice and data between multiple wireless sites. This enables rapid deployment of wireless services, as well as increased network bandwidth and improved network performance.
The MT90840AP1 is built on a carrier-grade protocol stack and includes a browser- and terminal-based user interface. It is an IEEE 802.11- and 802.16-compliant device that supports up to 10.7 Gbps data transfer rates over an 802.16e-compliant air interface. It supports the IEEE 802.11b and the WiMAX IEEE 802.16e implementations of wireless fidelity (WiFi). The MT90840AP1 also supports dynamic frequency selection (DFS) and provides automatic bandwidth and data rate adjustment capability.
The MT90840AP1 can be used as a direct access switch in the access layer or a downstream device. In the access layer, the MT90840AP1 provides an optimal service delivery platform by splitting the data stream (i.e., classify for overflow protection) and performing QoS functions including rate limiting and QoS shaping. In the downstream layer, the MT90840AP1 supports Layer 3 forwarding for basic routing, traffic control and connection management.
The MT90840AP1 application field ranges from public and private networks, LANs, WANs and VoIP, to optical networks and service provider networks. The multi-layer switch fabric provides traffic management, QoS and security features. The advanced features of the device enable access routers and switch services, residential gateways, WAPs, etc. to take advantage of the end-to-end network optimization. The MT90840AP1 integrates advanced logic functions which enable the application\'s task-specific processing requirements.
In addition, the MT90840AP1 is compatible with popular industrial protocols such as Ethernet, IP, WiMAX, and IMAP. These protocols provide applications with seamless data exchange and reduce the time required to develop new applications. The device also interoperates with IP radios, radios, Ethernet switches, LANs, and other networks to provide a comprehensive service offering. Furthermore, the MT90840AP1 supports a wide range of application development tools and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.11b and protocols such as WiMAX, IMAP, and Ethernet.
The MT90840AP1 works on the principle of client-server architecture which utilizes a powerful hardware platform to manage the data flow between multiple access points. The heart of the system is a central processing unit (CPU) which codes and decodes data from the access points. A secure tunnel is created between the access points and the CPU, resulting in an efficient and secure data communication link. The CPU stores and retrieves data from the memory, and processes data for the application usage. The application layers utilize the information processes by the central processing unit and allows the user to effectively monitor, control and transfer the data.
The MT90840AP1 meets the growing demand for reliable, flexible and secure OTN data services for the access layer, the core layer and the residential layer. The low latency and low power consumption makes the system suitable for demanding high-density, high-speed telecommunication traffic.
