ADM1485ARZ is an integrated low power quad differential line receiver designed to receive low speed data in EIA/TIA-422 and V.11 applications. It is a balanced line-receiver that utilizes a Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) technique. This technique enables wide bandwidth and low power for data transmission. This receiver is intended for use in low speed communication links up to 250Mbps, where very low power dissipation or a smaller footprint is necessary. The excellent bit-error rate (BER) performance and low supply current make the ADM1485ARZ a choice for a variety of data communications applications.
Application Field
ADM1485ARZ is widely used in networks, servers, storage systems, and other products that require support for low speed data transmission. Working Principle
The quad differential line receiver operates over the V.11 EIA/TIA-422 data protocol. The ADM1485ARZ operates with a 0.6V to 1.0V input range and is powered by a single 3.0V supply. It is able to respond to differential input signals as low as 200mV and as high as 1.5V. The four channels are configured in differential pairs for redundancy and wide common mode voltage range. A differential input signal is converted to a 9-bit logic level understanding by the Comparator/Latch. The comparator portion of the Comparator/Latch outputs a logic low output when the complimentary data lines are 400mV above or below the common mode voltage and suppress noise on the input data lines. The latch portion of the Comparator/Latch holds the output valid for the duration of the valid signals. This receiver has a standby mode for first-in/first-out (FIFO) applications and allows the user to reduce the power consumption of the circuits. The receiver\'s power supply is designed to consume a very small current when idle and keep the same current with larger data loading. The supply current even obtained with the 380 Mbps data rates is typically only 700µA. The ADM1485ARZ also provides slew rate control, output skew, and phase alignment options due to the selectable delay and phase alignment controls. These features allow the user to tune and profile the system performance.
