The AD654JN is a programmable-gain monolithic voltage/frequency (V/F) and frequency/voltage (F/V) converter that has become a vital component in a range of applications in recent times. This PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) is used in process monitoring and control systems, aero and avionics applications, audio processors and several other industrial, military and automotive systems. Its capabilities offer a number of advantages in these applications. It allows designers to integrate a voltage-to-frequency converter, sine-shaped voltage-controlled oscillator and voltage-controlled system in a single monolithic package. This is because of the AD654JN’s simple yet powerful integration features. The AD654JN is a high-performance, easy-to-use single chip V/F and F/V converter which is used for polarity conversion and frequency control in addition to other signal conditioning functions. It is designed to provide precision performance in applications involving temperature measurement, sensing and control functions.The voltage control input of the device is designed for a sine wave input and the output is derived from a programmable-gain V/F or F/V converter. The programmable gain allows the user to establish the desired voltage or frequency output with a high degree of accuracy. In addition, the output is also adjustable to 10 different gain settings. The AD654JN can also be used as an adjustable-gain F/V converter. It can invert the input frequency and convert it to a voltage output with an adjustable gain. The gain can be set by the design of the circuit. The built-in sine wave oscillator can be used to increase the speed and accuracy of the converter.The AD654JN can operate at temperatures between -40°C and +85°C and is available in a range of package sizes, including a 28-pin SSOP. It also has several internal gain ranges, allowing it to work with a wide range of voltage and frequency inputs.This device has a low-power consumption of just 400 milliamps and features a fast settling time of 500 microseconds, with an accuracy of 1.0% of the programmed gain.
