The REF102CP voltage reference is a low-power precision voltage reference designed for use in power management, digital, and other mixed-signal applications that require a stable, low-noise reference. This device features high accuracy, low drift temperatures, and excellent power supply rejection. This precision voltage reference is designed to provide a stable voltage source for controlling the output voltage of switching power supplies, reducing power supply noise, and supporting other analog and digital circuitry.The REF102CP voltage reference is based on the classic zener diode circuit employed by other references, with a few key components added to improve performance. The output voltage is determined by the zener diode and two series resistors in the feedback loop. These two resistors create an adjustable voltage divider that helps compensate for temperature variation in the zener diode.At the heart of the REF102CP voltage reference is a precision zener diode. It is the same type of diode used in some other voltage references that is generally accurate to within 5% of the rated output voltage. To further improve accuracy, an internal active compensation circuit regulates the output voltage over temperature.The REF102CP voltage reference also features a low EA current between 8μA and 20μA depending on the output voltage. This low current keeps the power supply voltage from drooping due to the load on the power supply caused by the voltage reference.In addition, the REF102CP voltage reference incorporates wide temperature range operation, excellent power supply rejection, low temperature drift and low output noise. The temperature range for the device is -40ºC to 125ºC, with accuracy maintained within an even smaller range of -15ºC to 85ºC. Drift is rated at 0.02% per ºC, and typical output noise is only 500μVrms.This voltage reference can be plugged directly into a socket or placed on a board. For optimal results it should be connected directly to the circuit board and the system should be designed to keep the connection secured through normal operation.Applications for the REF102CP voltage reference cover a range of instrumentation, sensors, power management and digital systems, including precision electronics and integrated circuits.
