PMIC - Laser DriversThe ADN2830ACPZ32 is a monolithic laser diode driver designed to drive laser diode bars in optical communication, consumer, industrial, and medical applications. This laser diode driver provides external bias control for all lasers to optimize drive current for optimal performance and high light intensity. The driver is also capable of adjusting the optical output power of the laser in communications applications by using an external external loop (separately supplied) to monitor the diode power and adjust the current to maintain a desired output level.The ADN2830ACPZ32 consists of a control electronic part and a laser power supply. The control electronic part consists of an input amplifier, drive current control circuitry, and output drive circuitry. The laser power supply consists of a high voltage regulator and a power switch. The power switch is used to control the laser power, while the high voltage regulator is used to supply the high voltage necessary to drive the laser diode.The ADN2830ACPZ32 provides a regulated positive supply voltage up to 15 V. This voltage is regulated to a precision of 0.1%. The input amplifier is provided to amplify the output signal received from the laser diode. The drive current control circuitry is used to set the optimum laser drive current level. This current is adjustable between 0.1 and 3.2 A. The output drive circuitry is used to actually drive the laser diode by supplying sufficient current to achieve the desired light intensity.The laser diode driver is designed to operate from an input voltage of 10 to 18 VDC and a total output power of up to 3W depending upon the drive current setting. The device can also be configured to operate from a single-cell Li-Ion battery up to 5V. The laser diode driver is RoHS compliant and can be integrated into existing module designs for easy implementation in a wide range of systems.The application field of the ADN2830ACPZ32 is in optical communication, consumer, industrial and medical applications. The main applications include optical fibre communication networks, laser printers, laser marking machines, and optical spas. The industrial uses include laser welding and laser cutting.
