At the same time, the dynamic current limiting circuitry takes effect, preventing any overloading of the supply lines. When the output voltage reaches the target voltage, the output FET is turned off, and the output voltage is held steady until the power supply is removed.
The device can then handle faults as they occur within the power supply. If the output voltage rises above the upper threshold level, the device will reduce the voltage to the target level, and if the output voltage drops below the lower threshold, the device will increase the voltage to the target level. In case of a fault, the device will go into its shutdown mode, while the output voltage will stay at the safe shutdown level. This ensures that the device and its connected components have a reliable power supply at all times.
