The PI49FCT3803L is a high-performance clock driver or buffer. It acts as an interface between two digital systems, analyzing the transmitted data and sending the data from one to another. This device is optimized for AC coupled applications such as PCI Express cards, network cards and FireWire devices.The PI49FCT3803L is a 4-channel device that supports data rates up to 4Gbps over the full IC temperature range. It provides true single-ended low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) or low-power EML technology. The LVDS transceivers are designed to achieve <200 ps clock-to-output propagation delay. The PI49FCT3803L is designed to operate across a wide frequency range of 0.5 Mbps to 4 Gbps.The PI49FCT3803L allows clock signals to be transmitted without running the risk of clock skew between the sending and receiving system. It can be used to widen the available supply voltage range to keep within the device\'s operating capability by increasing the power of the transmit signal. The PI49FCT3803L also provides on-chip pull-up resistors, allowing for increased power savings when required.The PI49FCT3803L works on the principle that an input signal is converted into an output signal. This conversion process is performed by the three main features of the PI49FCT3803L: Input/Output Amplifier, Output MOSFET and Signal Ground.The input and output amplifier ensure that the appropriate amplitudes and frequencies for any given signal are converted into the necessary output signals. The output MOSFET works in conjunction with the amplifier to provide the required power for the signals. The signal ground is used as a reference for both the input and output signals to ensure that no interference between the clock and data signals occurs.In addition to these features, the PI49FCT3803L also includes an on-die serializer that allows for high-speed data rates. This is useful for applications requiring serial data transmission in order to reduce system complexity and cost. The PI49FCT3803L also benefits from a low power consumption of only 545mW, allowing for small, low-profile applications.The PI49FCT3803L is ideal for a variety of clock and timing applications, allowing designers to overcome the challenges of frequency and bandwidth requirements with limited costs.
