The PI49FCT805CTQE is a high-speed 3.3V/5V bidirectional buffer/driver comprising of 12 non-inverting and 12 inverting buffered outputs with separate enable inputs for the inverting outputs. This buffer/driver is specified for high-speed operation at 5V and has high-impedance buffers on all the inputs and outputs. This product is suitable for a wide range of clock/timing applications because of its excellent performance and features.

The PI49FCT805CTQE has a high speed operation capability, with propagation delays of 8ns max and skew of 16mV. It features very low active power dissipation and low output impedance, thus providing superior noise immunity when driving the transmission-line type loads. It also features low flow through capacitance and offset voltage, thus ensuring excellent signal integrity. The input logic levels are TTL compatible, and the outputs are open collector with current sourced and sink capability. The buffer/driver can be used in multiple gate and fan-out applications as well as bus extension and/or clock multiplication applications.

The working principle of the PI49FCT805CTQE is based on the inverting and non-inverting buffered outputs, each with separate enable inputs which can be used to disable any specific output. The buffered output voltage, VOUT, is the logic complement of the input voltage, VIN. When there is no input voltage, the output voltage is in the high-impedance state (Hi-Z). The ENABLE inputs control the output of each buffer. When the ENABLE inputs are in the high-impedance state, the output is in the Hi-Z state. When the ENABLE inputs are driven to low, the output voltage is that of the input voltage. When the ENABLE inputs are driven to high, the output voltage is in the Hi-Z state. The inputs are buffered and supply TTL compatible logic levels. The PI49FCT805CTQE can be used to drive multiple transmission-line type loads. The outputs have low impedance characteristics and can sink current when driven to low, thus reducing ground bounce and eliminating duty cycle distortion.
