TCA9555PWR is a 32-bit I/O Expander which includes 16 digital input/output and 8 configurable on-chip pull high or pull low resistors. It operates at a wide range of power supply voltages (1.65V to 5.5V) and temperature ranges (-20°C to 70°C). This provides a perfect low voltage solution in multiple markets such as automotive, industrial, home appliances and etc.
The TCA9555PWR can be easily interfaced with SPI, I2C, SMBus and other micro controllers, providing a low voltage solution for system design. The device is freely configurable in either input-only mode or output-only mode. The output configuration is configured through writing to the I2C/SMBus registers prior to general-purpose I/O operation.
The input/output ports can be configured as input-only mode, output-only mode, bidirectional mode or Open-Drain mode. Input-only mode is suitable for battery-powered applications, such as those including digital keys and switches, whereas the Bidirectional mode is suitable for applications including multi-speed analog signals or an external ADC or digital amplifier control.
In addition to digital input/output, the TCA9555PWR also features an 8-bit programmable pull-high or pull-low resistor. This pull resistor is particularly useful when receiving digital or analog signals.
