The SI5380A-D-GM is part of the family of clock generation and distribution solutions from Silicon Labs. The SI5380A-D-GM is a fully programmable clock generator, providing precise frequency sources with both low jitter and low power consumption. It combines a low-jitter clock generator, PLL, and frequency synthesizer into a single device, allowing for flexible clock configurations to customer-specified frequencies.
The SI5380A-D-GM is a low-jitter, voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) PLL that offers up to eight outputs from a single input. It is designed to generate precise frequencies with low jitter and low power consumption. It is ideal for applications requiring low-noise clocks or a wide frequency range, such as IEEE 1394, DDR2 and DDR3, PCIe, SATA, USB 2.0, and Ethernet. The SI5380A-D-GM offers up to 16 MHz of usable frequency range, making it ideally suited for many applications.
The SI5380A-D-GM features three PLLs, each with its own phase-lock loop (PLL1, PLL2, and PLL3). Each PLL has four outputs, allowing for flexibility when configuring output clock frequencies. The device also offers fanout buffers which divide the clock frequency for use with multiple devices at the same time. Additionally, spread spectrum modulation is available to help reduce EMI in high-noise environments. The SI5380A-D-GM also provides programmable voltage and current ranges for both the PLL and VCO, allowing for optimal performance in any system.
The SI5380A-D-GM offers a variety of frequencies with very low power consumption and jitter performance of around 16 ps. It is designed for use in automotive and other high-temperature environments and is tested up to +105C. The device is available in both a 24-pin package and a 28-pin package.
