The SI5344D-D-GM is an Automotive Grade 3-Output, programmable, digital clock generator and jitter attenuator, which is ideal for use in high-performance, high-speed automotive applications. It features a low jitter of 800 fs RMS with an offset, fast VCO settling time of 25 µs, and a reduced number of external parts. It has a wide frequency range of up to 800 MHz in both programmable, integrated multipliers and dividers, allowing it to support both fast and precise multiple clock frequencies, enabling precise timing and synchronization.
The SI5344D-D-GM clock generator and jitter attenuator is designed for automotive applications such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, and in-vehicle networks. It is based on a silicon-germanium (SiGe) process, which sets it apart from most other clock generator and jitter attenuators on the market. SiGe is a process geometry that combines extra elements such as silicon and germanium that allows it to operate reliably and with a high degree of resilience to the environment. This technology allows the device to function optimally and optimise noise cancellation for improved jitter performance in high frequency range conditions.
The SI5344D-D-GM also offers on-chip control functions and PLL reference select pins that enable users to maximise jitter rejection, control, and flexibility. It has four additional clock inputs, one of them shared between the PLL refgramgen and the output clock inputs. It also has an integrated, adjustable spread-spectrum clocking (SSC) mode for improved EMI performance, as well as external REF inputs and REF enable pins for clock isolation and rapid synchronization.
The SI5344D-D-GM works by using an adjustable, three-stage PLL to generate multiple outputs. This PLL consists of a VCO (voltage-controlled oscillator), programmable counters, a phase-frequency detector, and an internal or external reference clock source. The PLL is used to provide the low jitter performance and high frequency range necessary for automotive applications, as well as clock synchronization and timing accuracy.
Each output is programmable and can be independently configured or synchronized with the others.
