ADS5103CPFBG4 is the latest device in the ADS5100 family; it is one of the high-speed, high-performance, 4-channel fully differential Analog to Digital Converters (ADC). The device is specified to IEC60950-1-approved tolerance of 0.01% over the industrial temperature range from -40℃ to +85℃, offering an ideal solution for a wide range of applications including industrial automation, medical imaging and communication infrastructure. ADS5103CPFBG4 is also able to achieve fast settling time, high accuracy, and excellent channel-to-channel matching, making it suitable for multi-channel measurements applications.

The ADS5103CPFBG4 sampling rate can reach up to 5.5GSPS, and it can converts signals up to 3.6GHz in to 10 bits with SNR of up to 63.3dBFS. It only needs 3.3V of power supply and has 7KV ESD on the digital pairs and 4KV ESD on each of the analog pairs.

The working principle of ADS5103CPFBG4 is that it consists of 4 input channels, 4 analog-to-digital converter cells and 4 current-steering digital to analog converters (DACs). Each ADC consists of a dual-gain amplifier, a track-and-hold (T&H) circuitry and a 10-bit flash ADC converter. The TH has a unique hold-mode for low-injection charge transfer capability and excellent low-frequency response.

For each of the 4 input channels, the analog signal is first converted to current-mode by the dual-gain amplifier, and then fed to the T&H. The T&H synchronously samples and holds the analog stream and is then sent to the 10-bit flash converter to obtain the digital output word. In the meantime, the DACs are used to calibrate the DC offset and linearity errors.
