The Renesas R5F100GFGFB#X0, commonly known as the F3K, is a 32-bit Microcontroller unit (MCU). It is built on the Renesas High Performance Multi-core MCU architecture, and includes the ARM Cortex-M4F core. The F3K is well-suited for a wide range of embedded applications, and is particularly suitable for automotive, consumer, industrial automation, motor control and medical applications.
The Renesas F3K is a low-power, low-cost MCU with low pin-count and has a wide range of peripherals on-chip. It has strong connectivity capabilities, with support for USB, Ethernet, CAN, I2C, and SPI interfaces, as well as a range of communication protocols such as Ethernet and CAN-Bus. It also supports high-speed data communications and wireless technology such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and LoRa. The device is supported by the nxtosek RTOS, allowing customers to build compact, reliable, real-time embedded solutions quickly.
The heart of the Renesas F3K is the Cortex-M4F processor core, which provides up to 96-MHz performance, twice the instruction throughput of a M3 core. This processor is paired with a highly efficient memory system, including up to 128 KB of Flash memory, 32 KB of SRAM and 4 KB of boot ROM. The processor also supports the RAS-Standard Enhanced DMA controller, which allows fast, direct data movement to and from peripherals and memories.
In addition to its strong processing core, the F3K MCU features a wide range of on-chip peripheral functions. Its serial interfaces include two USB Full-Speed controllers, along with I2C, SPI and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) ports. It also has three 16-bit Timer/Counter (TIMC) blocks, either of which can be used as a Pulse Width Modulator (PWM) or an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). There are also three captures and four compare/PWM/Timer outputs. The device supports a range of communication protocols, such as Ethernet, CAN-Bus, USB Full-Speed and Bluetooth.
The F3K has a secure real-time clock (RTC) module, which can provide precise time-of-day information and generate periodic interrupt requests. It also features two Power Management Control (PMC) blocks for power supply and brown-out detection. Additionally, there is a Debug Management Unit (DMU) for debugging program code and monitoring internal and external devices. Other on-chip features include a voltage regulator, a hardware watchdog timer (WDT) and a hardware fail-safe clock monitor (HFCM).
