The CDC2509CPWRG4 Clock / Timing - Clock Generators, PLLs, Frequency Synthesizers is a high performance frequency synthesizer designed to work with Low Power Consumption, high accuracy, and an integrated Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) that makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.

This device is primarily designed for telecommunications applications in which very low power is one of the key design considerations. The CD2509CPWRG4 generates any standard clock frequency with only one reference frequency input and offers superior phase noise performance to other similar frequency synthesizers.

The device uses a combination of phase-locked loop (PLL) control and general-purpose logic blocks to determine the output frequency. The PLL controls the operation of a digital phase detector, which compares the output frequency of the device to the reference frequency from the reference input. The comparison information is sent away from the phase detector to the charge pump, which adjusts the output frequency of the synthesizer to match the reference frequency.

To set the operating frequency of the synthesizer, an external reference input is selected, and a fixed duty cycle is programmed into the device.
