XC2V6000-5BF957C programmable gate array is part of an emerging class of programmable gate arrays (FPGA) that offer users an unprecedented level of application flexibility and power. XC2V6000-5BF957C contains fifteen million active gates on a single chip, an unprecedented level of programmability and performance combined with the small form factor and cost benefits of a field programmable gate array. This makes it an ideal solution for high-end applications requiring the highest levels of logic functionality and design flexibility.

The XC2V6000-5BF957C application field includes but is not limited to a wide range of video and communications applications, including video over IP, video compression, and video frame rate conversion. In addition, the XC2V6000-5BF957C is also ideal for high-speed data storage, deep packet inspection and network processing. This programmable gate array, due to its unprecedented level of capability, is ideal for high performance applications requiring complex, multifunctional and reliable operation.

The XC2V6000-5BF957C programmable gate array comes in two models. The XC2V6000-5BF957C-204 is designed for exceptionally high-speed operations with a dedicated transceiver output and Input/Output speed of 6.25 GHz. The XC2V6000-5BF957C-254, on the other hand, uses a remote I/O technology, produced by Avago Technologies, which is designed for high-speed applications operating up to 10GHz.

In addition to its advanced features, the XC2V6000-5BF957C also features a number of onboard features and options such as configurable embedded memory blocks, low cost complete SERDES implementation and a flexible embedded core processor. Furthermore, optional serial transceivers allow for communication speeds up to 10 MHz and along with optional embedded cores make up a complete turnkey system. Moreover, the XC2V6000-5BF957C can be configured for various different applications through a free software development environment.

The XC2V6000-5BF957C programmable gate array also employs advanced logic building blocks to provide the designer with quick and efficient design cycles. The design cycle begins with the synthesis of the design, which is based on register transfer level (RTL) or netlist code. All of the design parameters required to implement the design on the FPGA are store in the design configuration files which are then used in the logic building blocks.

After synthesis, the design is simulated using an after-the-synthesis emulation environment. This environment offers a high degree of accuracy in measuring the design performance. The design can then be programmed into the XC2V6000-5BF957C programmable gate array where it is tested on a real system. User can monitor the functionality of their designs through the onboard control and monitor unit.
