LM2745MTCX is a DC–DC switching regulator controller built with integrated, high-voltage power MOSFETs and high-performance PMBus control. It provides highly integrated and efficient power solutions for computing, UPS/UPS, server, storage, and networking applications, among others. This device integrates a step-down controller, high-voltage MOSFETs and a low-voltage MOSFET with a PWM controller block. The LM2745MTCX is ideal for green power designs due to its low operating voltage, integrated high-voltage MOSFETs, and ultra-low output noise.
The LM2745MTCX can control a wide range of power supplies, from DC/DC converters, AC/DC transformers, and single-phase inverters. The device has an adjustable switching frequency and can operate as an on/off, pulse-skip, and ultralow-noise mode. Additionally, the device can be used in parallel and synchronous configurations to provide higher output current capability. The LM2745MTCX provides maximum operating efficiency, while reducing ripple and noise, making it suitable for high power applications.
At the core of the LM2745MTCX is an integrated driver circuit capable of driving up to 4 power MOSFETs. This circuit provides both high and low-side gate drive to the MOSFETs. The integrated driver circuit helps to reduce power losses in the power delivery network and enables higher efficiency for the system. The driver circuit also features over-voltage and over-temperature protection to ensure safe operation of the LM2745MTCX.
The LM2745MTCX is able to detect power supply voltage by an analog comparator. When the voltage exceeds a threshold, the LM2745MTCX will automatically operate in pulse-skip mode to reduce the output ripple and noise. When the power supply voltage drops below the threshold, the LM2745MTCX will operate in on/off or ultra-low-noise mode depending on the system configuration. The LM2745MTCX also offers programmable high-side drive slew rate control, which helps to reduce power loss in the power delivery system. Additionally, the device has a built-in voltage feedback circuit, enabling accurate control of the output voltage.
The LM2745MTCX also offers current-mode control, which provides the system with excellent transient response. In current-mode control, the power supply output voltage is maintained constant even when the load changes significantly. This feature helps to avoid over shooting or undershooting, resulting in a more stable output voltage. The current-mode control is achieved by sensing the voltage drop across the external current sense resistor. The LM2745MTCX also features independent power and ground pins for both the current sense and the gate drive circuit, eliminating ground loop noise and allowing for better control.
The LM2745MTCX provides a complete and efficient DC–DC switching regulator controller solution in a compact package.
