IRFS7430PBF, a PMOS device, is a single-channel, depletion-mode power Mosfet, which features low on-state resistance and high-speed switching. The IRFS7430PBF is commonly used for load switching and motor control in high-power applications. Its main application fields include communication, industrial and automotive applications.
The IRFS7430PBF is constructed from a P-channel, enhancement-mode, metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET). Its internal construction is a three-layer structure composed of gate, drain and source. A gate oxide layer using silicon dioxide (SiO2) is grown on a silicon substrate. This layer acts as the gate dielectric between the gate and the body or substrate. The body of the MOSFET is doped with N-type conductivity type to create P-channel. A similar layer but of opposite conductivity type, referred to as drain, is used to create two N-channel. The source region is connected to the drain by an ohmic connection. Thus when the gate of the IRFS7430PBF is biased with a positive voltage it will increase the current flow through the drain and source connection.
The IRFS7430PBF has a maximum drain–source on-state resistance (RDS(ON)) of 2.1 Ohms. This reduces the power dissipation loss and also allows for a greater current flow with less voltage. Furthermore, the IRFS7430PBF has a fast switching time to ensure high performance.
Due to its high breakdown voltage (VBR) of 175V and its maximum drain–source voltage (VDSS) at 125V, the IRFS7430PBF is capable of providing a very fast switching operation, allowing it to drive loads with higher voltages.
