SMZG3793B-E3/5B is a silicon epitaxial planar power Zener diode manufactured by Semtech Corp. The SMZG3793B-E3/5B is a single Zener diode in a convenient TO-92 plastic package that offers hermetically sealed construction for reliable operation in demanding environments. It features an extremely fast response time when used as part of a short circuit protection system and has a high carrying current capacity which enables it to dynamically provide better than average protection from line overvoltages. The device has a wide operating temperature range from -65°C to +105°C which makes it suitable for most temperature extremes. It also has a low forward voltage drop of 500mV and a higher reverse voltage capability of up to 30V.
The working principle of the SMZG3793B-E3/5B application is basically the same as that of Zener diodes in general.
