RS1JL MTG Application Field and Working Principle

RS1JL MTG is a type of diode rectifier, mainly used for low-power applications such as AC/DC power converters and AC-DC rectifier circuits. It is a single-phase bridge rectifier which utilizes two semi-conductor GTO and two PN junction diodes. This bridge rectifier is capable of handling currents up to 2000A and voltage up to 800V.

Working Principle

Two GTO semiconductors and two PN junction diodes are used to form a full-wave rectifier circuit. The two GTO semiconductors, M1 and M2, are connected in series. The two PN junction diodes, D1 and D2, are connected in parallel to the GTO devices. The bridge rectifier works by allowing the current to flow in alternate directions, when the ac voltage is applied, the anodes of M1 and M2 are in the forward diode direction.

When the anode of M1 is positive and the cathode of M2 is negative, the diode D1 will start to conduct. This will permit current to flow in one direction, allowing a unidirectional current to flow and producing the rectified voltage. On the other hand, when the anode of M1 is negative, the diode D2 will become conductive, thus allowing a reverse current to flow that will induce rectified voltage of opposite polarity. Thus, the bridge rectifier will convert the alternating current to direct current.
