The CORE1553-SA Evaluation Board provides an efficient and cost-effective method for quickly evaluating, prototyping, and testing deterministic serial communication in embedded logic designs. Its purpose is to allow engineers to interact with and measure communication via the IEEE-1553 protocol in any embedded design. It is a flexible, easily portable and configurable evaluation board that allows for experimentation with data-transmission protocol for complex logic (FPGA and CPLD) designs.
CORE1553-SA is an efficient evaluation board determined by software configurable conditions. It has an FPGA-based DSP, on-board RAM, internal SRAM, clock generator and UART modules, and an HDMI port for interfacing with external components. All of these components on the board allow engineers to quickly develop a complex logic design for a wide range of embedded applications.
The CORE1553-SA board allows engineers to quickly configure data-transmission protocol for complex logic (FPGA and CPLD) designs. It features an onboard Core1553 mezzanine card, two Ethernet ports, one USB port, one Logic Analyzer Interface (LAF), and a full-featured Sub-Miniature Connector (SMC) bus. All these components are connected to the FPGA on the board.
The Core1553 mezzanine card is the brain of the CORE1553-SA evaluation board and is connected to the FPGA via the SMC bus. It contains the MIL-STD-1553 transceiver, a 1553 control unit, and two serial ports (RS-232 and RS-485). It is designed to provide access to MIL-STD-1553 communication protocol and allows experiments to be conducted in both broadcast and point-to-point configuration.
The Ethernet ports of the CORE1553-SA board can be used to interface with external IP networks. This feature allows engineers to verify networking implementations from their own lab. The USB port allows connection of external devices and the data transfer to the board is through the USB port.
