The DC1367A evaluation board from Texas Instruments is a compact, isolated AC/DC module designed to provide a power supply solution for evaluating isolated DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS circuits. The DC1367A incorporates a two-channel architecture, with each channel including an off-line PWM (pulse width modulation) controller, making it ideally suited for single-stage transformer based AC/DC (off-line) SMPS applications.

In AC/DC (off-line) SMPS applications, the AC source is rectified and filtered to provide a high-voltage DC bus. This DC bus is then supplied to an isolated PWM converter which provides regulated DC output(s). This type of circuit is widely used in consumer, industrial, and automotive electronics, for applications such as laptop adapters and lighting ballasts. The DC1367A incorporates best-in-class performance features, such as integration of rectified components into the evaluation board, and an optimized power stage, with realistic component parameters to enable the evaluation of unique designs and features.

Depending on the application, the DC1367A can be configured for unregulated, fixed-voltage (5V, 12V, or other), or adjustable-voltage (Vc-variable) operation. In all configurations, the evaluation board provides excellent efficiency, low AC current ripple, and good line and load regulation, across the full input voltage range. The DC1367A also features a wide range of protection functions, such as over-voltage, over-load, short-circuit, input over-voltage, and output over-temperature.
