Working Principle
The ADS5411EVM evaluation board is based on the ADS5411, a 10-bit sampling analog-to-digital converter. It consists of an analog input section, an ADC section, and a digital output section which, together, enable the analog-to-digital conversion operation. The analog input section on the board consists of an operational amplifier (opamp) which acts as an active low-pass filter. This helps to filter out noise and unwanted high-frequency signals. The differential input stage on the board allows for single-ended or differential input signals, allowing for better accuracy.The ADC section consists of a multi-bit ADC and a Delta-Sigma Modulator. The ADC samples and converts the analog signal into a 10-bit digital representation. The Delta-Sigma modulator then compresses the data into a 10-bit digital output. This output is then sent to the digital output section and is ready to be read by the microcontroller.The digital output section consists of a data serializer and an output buffer. The serializer orders the digital signal from the ADC section in the right sequence and sends it out to the peripheral device. The output buffer then sends the digital output data to the microcontroller.The ADS5411EVM evaluation board supports an 18-bit resolution, allowing it to be used in precision measurement applications. It is also able to provide up to 1MSPS sampling rate for maximum accuracy and speed.
