The BQ24305EVM (Evaluation Module) is an example of this type of equipment which was designed to evaluate the performance of the BQ24305 family of automotive USB chargers. This versatile module allows designers and engineers to quickly evaluate the performance of this power management system.The BQ24305EVM is designed to evaluate the performance of the BQ24305 family of automotive USB chargers. It supports the full range of features and capabilities of the BQ24305 family, including USB isolation, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and short-circuit protection. The EVM can be configured to allow for rapid evaluation of the various power supply configurations, such as the InputTie™ mode, multiple input source options, and the selection of various termination resistors. With the EVM, users can quickly evaluate the features and performance of the BQ24305 in a variety of automotive applications.

The functionality and features of the BQ24305EVM evaluation module are based on the BQ24305 USB charger IC. The BQ24305 is a low-power buck-boost Linear Power Converter with integrated high-side and low-side switches, overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, and over-temperature protection, and an integrated HSUSB switch and short-circuit protection feature. This power converter IC supports the USB 2.0 specification and is capable of supplying 5V/1.5A from a standard automotive 12V supply or a NiMh/NiCd battery.The evaluation module includes an adjustable input voltage source, three adjustable output load resistors, two MOSFETs for power conversion, and an integrated USB socket. The input voltage source is adjustable from 0V to 16V to allow for testing of various input sources. The output load resistors are adjustable from 0Ω to 500Ω and are used to simulate the various loads that may be connected to the USB charger. The MOSFETs are used to convert the input voltage to the USB 2.0 compliant 5V/1.5A output. The integrated USB socket provides an easy connection to the host device.To complete the BQ24305EVM evaluation module, the user must supply the appropriate input power source and the appropriate USB cable to connect the evaluation module to the host device. Once the evaluation module is connected to the host and the supply voltage is adjusted, then the various power management features of the BQ24305 can be evaluated. The evaluation module includes a graphical user interface that allows for easy configuration and monitoring of the device’s various power management features.The BQ24305EVM evaluation module is an invaluable tool when testing, debugging, and evaluating the performance of the BQ24305 USB charger IC. With the adjustable input voltage source, adjustable output load resistors, integrated USB socket, and graphical user interface, this module makes the evaluation process effortless. Furthermore, with the integrated protection features, designers and engineers are able to quickly identify faults and ensure that the power supply is properly configured for the application. By utilizing the BQ24305EVM, designers and engineers can easily evaluate the performance of the BQ24305 USB charger IC in their respective applications.
