The TW8811-LD2-GR-EVAL evaluation board is an ideal tool to evaluate the performance of the TW8811 low-voltage, low-power single-phase buck converter ASIC. TW8811 is a highly integrated, synchronous buck regulator with onboard MOSFETs to offer a high level of integration and performance. It has a 200 kHz fixed frequency current mode architecture with adjustable slopes while providing very high accuracy. The TW8811-LD2-GR-EVAL evaluation board is designed to be used with either a 200 kHz fixed frequency PWM controller or a programmable PWM controller.Application FieldThe TW8811-LD2-GR-EVAL evaluation board can be used in a variety of applications. It can be used for the evaluation of analog and digital output power supplies such as DC/DC and AC/DC converters, current limiting converters, LED lighting control and motor control. The evaluation board is also capable of providing high efficiency, low noise and low power operation. It can be used in a wide variety of applications such as automotive, industrial and consumer electronics and has been designed to be compatible with many different applications.Working PrincipleThe TW8811-LD2-GR-EVAL evaluation board works by using a direct current (DC) buck converter that is driven by a 200 kHz PWM controller. The board is based on a synchronous buck architecture that includes control circuitry, an output stage and a rectifier circuit. The output stage provides a high current output for powering the load from the input voltage and is capable of providing overcurrent protection for the output stage. The rectifier circuit is used to supply the gate driver supply voltage for the power stage switches.The board also includes an integrated microcontroller that can be programmed with different parameters such as output voltage, PWM frequency, power limit and other parameters. This enables the board to be configured for different applications. The microcontroller also allows the user to select between modes like continuous or pulse-width modulation (PWM) for the DC-DC converter.The evaluation board also includes the following features: an analog loop compensation interface, an external sync/sleep control pin, an LED Driver, a capacitor discharge circuit, a programmable D-CAP mode for efficient operation, a single wire interface for advanced diagnostics and an Overvoltage protection (OVP) timer.
