Spectral Analysis of Eu and Bi

The radius of Bi and Eu is similar, and the valence state is the same, and can be co-doped with Eu in the matrix. In order to study the sensitization of Bi ~ (3 +) to Eu ~ (2 +), the emission spectra of  phosphors were studied.

 

The emission peak position and shape of the emission peak of the phosphor were not changed by the introduction of trace Bi, but the luminescence intensity was different. In Bi-doped phosphors, when the concentration of Bi is 3 mol%, the luminescence intensity is the highest.

 

With the increase of Bi concentration, the probability of non-radiative transition increases with the increase of Eu ~ (3 +) interaction, resulting in a concentration quenching phenomenon, which decreases the luminescence intensity. However, the luminescence intensity of the phosphors with Bi concentration of 3 mol% was higher than that without Bi powder, this is similar to the existing literature.

 

The reason may be that the matrix is in, Moo ~ (2 +), and the sensitization effect of Bi ~ (3 +) is great, too little or too much Bi is not enough to increase the emission intensity of activator Eu.

 

Therefore, in the aspect of luminescence intensity,Eu3 + and Bi3 + are more suitable for red phosphors on near-ultraviolet white LED. In order to compare, the red phosphors were synthesized according to the related literatures. The results show that the emission intensity of Bi phosphors is higher than that of red phosphors.
