Working Principle
QMB-032-11C3N-3BA circuit breakers can be used to automatically detect and trip the circuit when an overload, short circuit or other fault occurs. When there is a fault, the mechanical contacts of the breaker open to isolate the circuit, providing overload protection. This prevents the current from exceeding the maximum value that the equipment downstream of the circuit breaker can cope with. The device provides protection against short circuits and overcurrents while not exposing the circuitry to the shock hazard. The mechanical contacts are operated by a thermal-magnetic mechanism with a proven design.
When a fault occurs, the current flowing through the circuit increases. This causes the thermal element to heat up and increase the internal resistance of the circuit. The increased resistance will cause the breaker to trip, thereby cutting off the electricity supply, preventing further damage to the electrical system and reducing the risk of injury.
The magnetic element is designed to respond as quickly as possible to an over-current situation. When an overload occurs the magnetic element is energised and opens the contacts. This prevents current from exceeding the rated current of the breaker, ensuring the circuit is cut off in a timely manner.
The operating forces, contact pressures and electrical load conditions of the device are designed to prevent contact welding and arc chutes from occurring, providing reliable operation, even in demanding applications. The device can be manually reset to restore power to the circuit.
