The AD9144-FMC-EBZ evaluation board enables one to explore the wide-band digital-to-analog converters (DACs). This evaluation board is utilized to evaluate the AD9144 dual 14-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). This evaluation board is designed with multiple input selectable rates up to 125GSPS and provides outputs up to 80GHz (in quadrature Mode).

The AD9144-FMC-EBZ evaluation board contains multiple components which provide the user with an easy to use, compact solution for prototyping. This board contains an AD9144 DAC, a Virtex-7 FPGA, an LVDS sync clock, a two-channel USB3.0 interface, a 70 MHz clock on board, a FMC-HPC daughterboard, and two SMA connectors for out-of-board connection of the signal outputs. Also, this board also contains several test points, LED indicators, a temperature sensor, and a programming connector. Since this board can support external clock sources or be clocked internally up to 125 GSPS, it has the capability to generate phase-aligned RF outputs.

The AD9144-FMC-EBZ evaluation board is primarily intended to operate at high speeds up to 125 GSPS, and requires a very high data rate clock for its operation. As such, this evaluation board utilizes a FPGA to generate the needed data clock. This FPGA is also used to transform a 14-bit parallel input data into the necessary serialized format. The FPGA is controlled through a two-channel USB3.0 interface which is used to configure and control the board through an adaptation of the POLARIS software.
