The RFD77312 is an evaluation board specially developed for infrared, distance and ambient light sensing applications. It has a highly integrated solution with an OTP (One Time Programmable) sensor and an associated calibration algorithm. The board is based on a design platform that includes the NXP FXOS8700CQ Accelerometer Sensor Hub, the NXP FXAS21002C Gyroscope and an embedded control logic placed on a Microchip FRAM-Based Channel FPGA. It is capable of providing a complete range of sensing capabilities from Ambient Light Sensor (ALS), Distance Sensor and Infrared Sensor to a wide variety of other environmental sensor detection.

The RFD77312 is ideal for use in a variety of applications and industries. It can be used for distance, ambient light, infrared, and other environmental sensing applications such as following: Industrial Monitoring and Control, Robotics, Automotive, Security and Surveillance, Retail and Home Automation, Health Monitoring, and Smart Lighting. The RFD77312 uses a brand new embedded control logic placed on a Microchip FRAM-Based Channel FPGA which allows a user to expand their projects with features, such as ranging, ambient light sensing, and an onboard analog-to-digital conversion (ADC). Its’ OTP sensor and calibration algorithm together offer a highly accurate optical range. The measurement range is from 0.1 to 10 meters in ambient light. It’s based on a 1-meter precision with a resolution of 0.005 meters. In addition, the board is powered by NXP FXOS8700CQ Accelerometer Sensor Hub which provides six user configurable sensors including proximity, ambient light, magnetometer and accelerometer.

All together, RFD77312 is an all-in-one state-of-the-art evaluation board designed to meet the requirements for distance, ambient light and infrared sensing applications. Its OTP sensor and associated calibration algorithm offer a highly accurate optical range with a resolution of 0.005 meters.
