AL5812EV3 is an evaluation board based on the AL5812EV3 IC, a highly integrated, three-channel, constant-current LED driver. With combination of its many features, AL5812EV3 is suitable for all kinds of LED applications, such as LED TV backlighting, LED signage, LED strips, LED desk lamps, LED headlamps, LED downlights and LED lighting panels.

AL5812EV3 Application Field

The AL5812EV3 IC can be adapted to a wide range of LED applications that require dimming, color management and multiple output currents. The board provides an ideal platform for prototyping and testing these applications.The board supports up to three channels with adjustable output current from 0. 46A to 1.17A, output current can be set accurately, only by two resistors on each channel. A wide range of LED voltages can be supported through two voltage ranges, up to the input voltage.The AL5812EV3 has built-in dimming capability which enables control of LED intensity from 0.1% to 100%. Voltage mode, I2C and PWM dimming are supported and the board is capable of Asynchronous operation up to 20kHz.For safety, the AL5812EV3IC also provides Over Temperature Protection, Over Voltage Protection, Under Voltage Lock out and Short Circuit Protection.

AL5812EV3 Working Principle

The AL5812EV3 evaluation board uses a DC/DC boost converter to step -up input voltage to the required voltage of the LEDs. The board is capable of driving 3 LEDs channels with an adjustable output current up to 1.17A.The AL5812EV3 uses a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) dimming control, which is fed to the Boost Converter its output voltage. The MAXIM Constant Current Regulator IC (constant current IC) controls the output current on each channel. The adjustable range for the constant current output is 0.46A to 1.17A, which is set with two resistors.To operate the AL5812EV3 board, the user needs to connect the power supply, set the output current, connect the LED, and apply PWM signal to the selected dimming pin. The board can be driven at Asynchronous speeds up to 20kHz.In conclusion, AL5812EV3 evaluation board offers a wide range of features, suitable for LED Application. It can be easily implemented into a variety of LED applications, ensuring optimum performance and safety.
