In a buck converter application, the board can be used to control a buck-regulatable voltage source. By properly adjusting the output voltage adjust and bias voltage adjust potentiometers, the user is able to achieve the desired output voltage and eliminate the need for a separate power supply. Additionally, the board can be used to regulate various types of loads, including AC loads.
The DC1729A evaluation board also provides a heat sink that maintains an optimal temperature for the LM317, even when under high load. The board also includes a safety circuit for preventing over voltage and over current conditions. Additionally, the board can be easily connected to other boards such as a battery, DC motor, or other load so that the user can easily conduct experiments.
