OPA548EVM is an evaluation board that is dedicated to the National Semiconductor OPA548 op amp. It is an 8-pin DIP package integrated circuit with a low power monolithic bipolar-input operational amplifier. This evaluation board is designed for use with Texas Instruments pin-compatible devices, and also works with other standard op-amps. It is used to evaluate the performance of op amps as well as the integration of these components into broader applications.The OPA548EVM has two main applications: Low power audio amplification and current feedback applications. For low power audio, this evaluation board is able to amplify a low voltage signal with low distortion. This is made possible through the amplifier’s high open loop gain and low input bias current. This allows the board to create an output signal with higher dynamic range and power efficiency. For current feedback applications, the OPA548EVM offers low power usage and low noise with its staggered slew rates. Additionally, it has a wide common-mode input range of 0V to 10V and a unity gain band width of 10MHz.The OPA548EVM features two evaluation sections: one for the OPA548 op amp and one for a 5V shunt regulator. The two sections are connected using jumper pins. The board can be powered up using a DC power supply that has a voltage range of 3V to 16V and must be between 0.5V to 0.9V greater than either the regulated voltage Vrefa or the shunt regulator output Vin. A power input connector and on/off switch are provided to easily connect and disconnect the power supply. Once connected, the digital display will show the voltage level the evaluation board is currently running at.The OPA548EVM has a wide range of operating parameters to choose from. Users are able to adjust the gain, bandwidth, slew rate, and power supply voltage to meet their specific application requirements. The board is equipped with several pinouts such as the input single ended pins (INA – INB), the output pins (OUTA – OUTB), the power supply pins (VCC), the ground pins (GND), and the reference pins (Vrefa & Vrefb). Each pin can be soldered to connect the sections on the evaluation board.The OPA548EVM also has an on-board oscilloscope for testing functionality and loading the op-amp. This helps users troubleshoot and adjust the op-amp settings to match the desired performance levels. Furthermore, the evaluation board also features a BNC output connector for connecting to external devices such as amplifiers and filters.In summary, the OPA548EVM is a reliable evaluation board. Designed for use with Texas Instruments pin-compatible devices, the OPA548EVM can test and evaluate the performance of op amps in low-power audio amplification and current feedback applications.
