The NE555DR is a highly versatile timer/oscillator integrated circuit designed to accurately control timing functions. It is a dual 5-Pin package oscillator-timing device that is capable of producing accurate timing delays or oscillation functions by maintaining precise frequencies. The device is commonly used for timing functions as well as for generating clock signals for digital circuits.
The NE555DR operates in three distinct modes: Monostable, Astable and Bistable. In the Monostable mode of operation, the NE555DR is used to precisely control the duration of a pulse. The operation of the NE555DR is based on the use of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). A voltage source is connected to the trigger input and a resistor and capacitor network is added and connected to the threshold pin. When the input voltage exceeds the preset threshold, an internal pulse generator initiates a pulse to the output.
