The comparator work in one of three states based on the comparison: Output is Low if (V1 < V2), Output is High if (V1 > V2), and Output is Z if (V1 = V2).

The LM139DR includes four independent bilateral comparators that can be operated independently to compare two different voltage sources. The device can be connected in an isolated configuration such that each comparator can be configured to operate as an active-low or active-high comparator. It has input common-mode voltage range from VSS to VDD + 0.1V, input differential voltage range of 0.5V, and an offset voltage range of -0.15V. Additionally, it has tristate outputs which allow a signal to control the comparator’s output.
